Building an L7 HTTP load balancer in Go from scratch — covering round-robin and least-connections algorithms, health checks, and backend pool management. Architecture grounded in AWS ELB, NGINX, and HAProxy with a focus on cloud infrastructure and IaaS scalability patterns.
Building the load balancer was the easy part. Understanding why it worked — and what that revealed about how little I actually knew — was a different story entirely.
